Invented Traditions is an oak foeder-aged German-style Altbier. What the hell is that? Good question. Altbier is a beer style that resists easy categorization – it’s malty, but dry. It’s hoppy but not in the way Americans like to think of hops. It’s German but it’s an ale. It’s somewhere between amber and brown. In short, it’s a deeply idiosyncratic beverage that is really only produced in one little corner of a faraway country. So when we resurrect it here in America, why wouldn’t we invent a past where it aged in oak for an extended period? We like how it tastes, so, sure, we’ll go with it. Hopefully you enjoy our Invented Tradition.
